Rockstar has not yet officially confirmed a date for the PC version of GTA 6. What exists are leaks, historical patterns, and the implicit confirmation that PC comes after consoles. The question is: how long after?
A widely circulated leak from AltChar in June 2026 points to February 2027 — about 3 months after the November console launch. This window makes sense for several reasons.
Rockstar has a consistent pattern of launching its titles on consoles first and then PC, with a gap that has varied:
Compared to GTA V and RDR2, 3 months is a much shorter window. Some believe Rockstar may have optimized PC development to run in parallel with consoles, taking advantage of the architectural similarities between PS5/Xbox Series and modern PC. Plausible — but not confirmed.
The alternative is that the leak is wrong and PC arrives later — perhaps mid or late 2027.
Assuming Rockstar keeps the pattern from previous versions, the GTA 6 PC version should bring support for resolutions above 4K, unlocked frame rates (120fps+), advanced ray tracing, adjustable FOV, and — eventually — community mod support (though Rockstar never officially supports mods).
This is the big question for players without a console. The answer depends on how much you value playing at launch versus playing the best possible version. GTA V on PC came 18 months after consoles, but the quality difference was so significant — textures, draw distance, 60fps stability, mods — that many players argue it was worth the wait.
If the same pattern repeats with GTA 6, the PC version may definitively be the best version of the game. But waiting 3, 6, or 12 months for it is a very personal decision.
Rockstar has not yet published system requirements for the PC version. However, based on the screenshots and Extended Look, it's possible to estimate that GTA 6 will be very demanding on hardware. A game of this scale — with climate simulation, dynamic events, hundreds of simultaneous NPCs, and ray tracing — will likely require at least an RTX 3080 or equivalent to run well at 1440p. For 4K, expect to need top-of-the-line 2026–2027 hardware.
Players with older PCs may need to consider an upgrade before the PC version launches. Keep an eye on the official requirements when announced — probably in the weeks before the PC launch.
